MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Educating with Heart and Purpose
The Rolling Stones School is, at its heart, a neighborhood school and that is our greatest strength.
At our school, relationships do not end at the gate. Parents and teachers meet not only in classrooms and formal meetings, but also in nearby markets, streets, and everyday community spaces. These informal encounters build trust, familiarity, and genuine bonds. Because of this closeness, we share smiles, concerns, hopes, and small victories as part of daily life. Our teachers know their students not just as learners, but as children growing within a shared community. They offer extra care, guidance, and protection, looking after each child with responsibility and affection, as they would their own. When a child belongs to such a connected community, learning becomes deeper, safer, and more joyful.
The foundation of The Rolling Stones School is deeply personal. The school was founded together with my grandfather, guided by a simple yet powerful mission: to provide quality education at an affordable fee. This institution was never created as a commercial venture. It was established as a social responsibility initiative of the Kamana Family, rooted in the belief that education should be accessible, meaningful, and ethical.
In our early days, we were fortunate to receive extraordinary support that shaped who we are today. The initial funding came from Mr. Gary Anderson and Ms. Janice Anderson, then professors in California and now retired. Their contribution went far beyond financial support. They trained our teachers, shared global teaching practices, and provided essential tools and logistical support when resources were limited. Their belief strengthened our foundation. Additionally, my NRN friends, Mr. Ram Mohan KC and Ms. Ramita Gurung, who shared my commitment to giving back to society, joined me in my family’s noble cause.
Our approach to learning has always emphasized creativity and exploration. The LEGO toys used as tools for creative education, donated by the LEGO Foundation under the inspiring philosophy “Building a world for playful learners,” helped students learn through imagination, problem-solving, and collaboration. These playful experiences nurtured confidence, curiosity, and teamwork from an early age.
Technology also found its way into our classrooms through generosity. The first computers in our lab were donated by the Lions Club of Søllerød, Denmark, opening doors to digital learning and global awareness at a time when such access was rare.
Because of these collective efforts by families, teachers, international friends, and well-wishers, The Rolling Stones School has been able to provide progressive, world-class education at a modest fee structure. More importantly, we have built a school where children feel safe, valued, and supported every day.
As we reflect on this academic year, I feel deep gratitude for our parents who trust us, our teachers who give their hearts, our students who inspire us, and our community that stands together.
This is not just a school.
This is our shared journey.
This is our community.
This is The Rolling Stones School.
